Reading Habits Tag

Oops here’s a post I stole from my old blog, where I did this tag a couple of years ago. I’ve realised that you guys probably don’t know all that much about me unless you follow me on my instagram or twitter page! So, when I was scrolling through my old blog, I thought what better way to properly introduce myself to you all, especially after I’ve been blogging her for almost a month now (a month and a half by the time you read this!). Since I wrote the answers to these questions 3 years ago, I have since changed all of my answers. A lot can change in 3 years, and a lot of books can be read in that time!

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Although I don’t see me having a specific space to read in, I mostly read in my bedroom, slumped on my bed in a heap with a book. I have these super comfy fluffy cushions that you see in the background of most of my photos on instagram and I love reading on those!

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Bookmarks for sure. I have a jar of bookmarks, a mug and an Ikea plant pot that also house my bookmarks. I actually have loads but tend to use the same ones all the time, however the last two books I’ve received from the Book Depository came with these cute little bookmarks that I ended up using those for both books! The three bookmarks I use the most came in the June Fairyloot box, I believe.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I prefer to stop at the end of a chapter, however, if needs be, I will just stop reading. I don’t tend to forget where I finished and if I can’t quite remember what was going on, I tend to just read from the top of the page to get my bearings!

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

I know a lot of people do, but I don’t. I definitely don’t tend to eat when I’m reading as it distracts me plus I don’t want crumbs all over my book. I will drink if I have a glass or mug near me, but again, it distracts me from the book so I don’t tend to eat or drink when reading!

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

No way. I find reading with the TV on in the background a little bit easier but I get distracted very easily. If I’m reading with the TV on in the background, that usually means that I’m with my boyfriend and he always distracts me when I’m reading and he’s watching TV. Music is a big no-go for me, particularly if the songs have words. Scores are better, however sometimes they don’t quite fit the scene I’m reading!

6. One book at a time or several at once?

The most I can read is two, however I much prefer to read one book at a time as otherwise I end up with one book unread for ages as I finish the second book, and then read another and another and another!

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

I can read pretty much anywhere, except for in the car. It makes me feel so sick!

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Silently in my head unless something really isn’t making sense or I keep reading a line without taking it in, in which case, I read it out loud then!

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I don’t skip pages however if I’m checking how many books a page has, sometimes I accidentally see the last line. I also have a tendency to end up reading stuff on the opposite page, particularly if it’s an interesting part of the book! I guess I don’t skip pages, but I do unintentionally read ahead.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

I used to be really funny about this, particularly with paperbacks. Cracking the spines on hardcovers are a must unless I want to basically read the book half shut. Paperbacks I’m still a little funny about, especially when the spine gets a crease down it, however it’s not a huge issue and least it makes it mine!

11. Do you write in your books?

Never. Again, I used to be really funny about this when I began reading however I’ve loosened up a bit on this. I personally would still never write in my books. I also refuse to dog ear the pages, and I don’t even use tabs in books. However, it’s each to their own. If someone else wants to write in their own book, then I don’t care!

12. Who do you tag?

Anybody who wants to give others a little insight to their own reading habits. It’s just a fun little thing to do!
