October Wrap Up

October was a fairly busy month for me in terms of work and exams. I feel like I say that almost every month, but it’s the truth. I had a fairly bad reading month (normal service has resumed) but I did start 3 books, 2 of which I hope to have finished by the end of November. The other one I started is Samantha Shannon’s The Priory of the Orange Tree. That is a mammoth book that I will definitely plan to be reading up until the end of the year.

Other than working and exams, I did actually attend an author signing and that was for Laini Taylor. She was doing a very short ‘tour’ stopping at Birmingham, London and Liverpool. I was really pleased that I was able to grab a ticket to the Birmingham event and had a really great time seeing my friends there and of course, meeting Laini again. I felt a bit bad because I haven’t finished Strange the Dreamer yet, let alone read Muse of Nightmares but I don’t think I was spoiled for anything, and even if I was, I probably won’t remember in a few days time anyway!

Monthly reading total: 2 || Books this year: 36

Reading Goals for September:

  1. Finish What If It’s Us? by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silver
  2. Finish The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
  3. Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
  4. The Witch of Willow Hall by Hester Fox
  5. Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand
  6. The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

Ok, now I look back at the goals I set, my October goals were extremely ambitious. There was definitely no way I was going to fly through 6 books in October as I had an exam resit at the end of the month. Especially since the resit is my third time sitting the exam (I have no shame in admitting that I have failed the same exam twice, the second time by 4 marks). I also have another, and hopefully my last, exam in the middle of November, so again, very ambitious baring both exams in mind.

Books Read:

  1. What If It’s Us? by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silver
  2. The Witch of Willow Hall by Hester Fox

Ugh, I knew this month was going to be disappointing in comparison to September but just two books? Wow. I honestly just hate that exams have sort of stopped me from being able to read this year. I know that it’s my fault I failed some of them which has meant that I’ve had to sit them in August, October and November but still. I really just wish that I could get paid to sit and read all day, that would be very ideal.

This Months TBR:

  1. Finally finish The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee
  2. Finish Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
  3. The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee
  4. Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
  5. Jiddy Vardy by Ruth Estever

I’m looking at my TBR for November and it is a bit ambitious still, but with my (hopefully) last exam mid-November, I’m really hoping that I can get a good amount of reading in and finally get some books off my TBR. I am fairly certain that I will finish the first two books on this list because I’ve already started them both. We’ll see how it goes with the other 3 on my list. I’m really looking forward to being able to read more again this month!

Did you manage to finish your October TBR? What was your favourite book you read this month? What’re your goals for November?
