Blogmas 2018: Cover vs Cover

When trying to plan my posts for Blogmas (which has been a little difficult, I might add), I turned to my boyfriend for a little help. He mentioned about doing a post on my favourite book covers but I decided to do it a little differently and instead do a Cover vs Cover challenge!

There are SO many US/UK covers of books and most of the time I do prefer the US cover however, there are some books where I much prefer the UK cover!

Let me know what you guys think about these covers and which you prefer in the comments!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

My favourite out of these two is most definitely the UK cover. I absolutely love the UK cover. The gold foiling against the vibrant blue background is so gorgeous. I definitely don’t like the US cover nearly as much as I like the UK cover.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

This is a hard one, but ultimately, I prefer the US cover. I do quite like the UK cover, but I do love the US cover just slightly more. I like the simplicity of it and the fact that the little person on the front of it is jumping between London’s, although the UK cover does have all 4 Londons on it.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

This is a fairly easy choice for me. I really love the UK cover. I like the simplistic design, but the detail of it is all in the bird. I really like the simple addition of cover with the red sun too. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like the US cover, but I just prefer the UK cover more.

Winner: UK Cover

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

This is a very difficult choice for me. I actually really love both covers. I love the black and gold on the UK cover and think it’s simple but so effective and pretty. Not to mention that the UK hardcovers have secret covers underneath to dust jacket. The US cover though. Man, it’s just so pretty. I love the font and how it swirls around. I absolutely love the red and blue colours against the black/dark navy background. It looks almost like a night sky and looks quite magical all together. I’m honestly sad that I don’t own the US cover yet!

Winner: US Cover

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by Harry Potter

As much as I would love to own all of the US covers of Harry Potter, my favourite cover out of these two has to be the UK cover. I love the stars, the Hogwarts Express in King’s Cross, the shock on Harry’s face. It looks magical and reminds me of my childhood.

US Covers: 2

UK Covers: 3

This was quite a fun little post to do that I quite enjoyed! I usually lean towards US covers most of the time, so it’s surprising to see that out of these five, the UK covers won! What did you think of this post? Do you agree with my choices?
