10 Books to Read in 2019 from my TBR

It should come as no surprise that, as a bookworm, I have a fairly big TBR made up of books from the last five years.

img_6983In fact, if you know me, you’ll know that my owned TBR is about 270-280 books. In 2019, and the next few years, I want to really cut that down by (obviously) reading more books but also by unhauling. My reading tastes have changed quite a bit over the last five years and books that interested me before, just don’t have that same effect now. I just need to learn to let go of those books!

Knowing that there are that many books on my TBR, I thought I’d list out 10 of the books on my TBR that I most definitely want to read this year. So without further ado, here they are…

  1. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia img_6984
  2. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor
  3. Uprooted by Naomi Novik
  4. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
  5. An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
  6. History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
  7. Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
  8. Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
  9. A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab
  10. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

Bonus book: Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.

img_6985Most of these books have been on my TBR for at least a year so I absolutely want to read them. I definitely want to unhaul some books so I can create a better system that encourages me to read more of my owned books without feeling overwhelmed.

Are any of the books on my list on your TBR? Or perhaps you’ve read them already?

  1. Muse of Nightmares is excellent stuff! Definitely recommend 😀 and A Gathering of Shadows has been on my TBR list for quite a while… I just haven’t committed to buying it yet :S

    1. I’m so excited to read Muse! It was meant to be one of my first reads of 2019, but that didn’t happen! Ah, I have the whole series but I just haven’t got round to reading it yet. I’m going to have to reread A Darker Shade of Magic before I step into Gathering though!

  2. An Enchantment of Ravens and Uprooted are both amazing stories, I hope you end up loving them! I definitely want to get to Geminia this year as well, finishing up series is such a daunting task though! Goid luck on your tbr! 💜

    1. I’ve heard a lot of good things about both, especially Uprooted! I don’t know why I keep putting off reading it tbh! Yes, I really want to get some of my series finished this year. It is a daunting task but we can do it!

  3. *gets out megaphone* PLEASE read A Gathering of Shadows and Muse as soon as you can, they’re honestly fantastic! Snow Like Ashes and History are also both good books (but very different to one another), but I didn’t actually love Aristotle and Dante as much as everyone else. So I’d say put that one at the bottom of your list 😉 Great post!

    1. I willlll! I’ll probably read Muse first and then AGOS as I need to reread ADSOM first! Good to hear you liked a few of the others. I am starting to hear of people that didn’t like it that much so I shall keep that in mind! It’s just been sat on my shelf for ages now 😆

      1. Oooh please send me updates for Muse too! I loved that book so much ❤ Yeah, I just wasn’t a fan of the writing style and the author has been unkind to readers multiple times so I’m even more put off from reading any of his other work. 😔

      2. I shall do once I finally get to it! yeah, I had seen he hadn’t been nice to some readers. I want to give Ari and Dante a go because of the many positive reviews (and because I own it) but I doubt I’ll read anything else of his because I don’t want to support someone who is like that to their fans/readers.

  4. I really loved Eliza and Her Monsters! For me, it was one of those books I just happened to read at the perfect time in my life

  5. Definitely read A Gathering of Shadows!!! It’s my favourite in the trilogy and will spur you on to read A Conjuring of Light and get that trilogy off your TBR! I can’t believe you have nearly 300 books on your TBR that’s insane! I have a shelf full and can’t cope with that haha
