May 2019 || Wrap Up

May came and went faster than I could say wrap up. I can’t believe it’s actually June already and almost half the year has gone.

I completed my first month at my new job on the 1st of May and then went on holiday for a week to Cornwall with my family which was lovely. It was definitely a much needed break from work and everything. I’ve never really felt like I needed a break from working before but I have really been feeling it this year for the first time.

I also had a pretty decent reading month which I’m chuffed about. I would really like to keep this momentum up, however I start my next Accountancy qualification in the middle of June and I know that after that, I won’t have as much time to read as I’ll be studying instead. With that in mind, I really tried to take advantage of the fact that May was my last full month before starting that and tried to read more so that I had a better chance of hitting my Goodreads goal for the year. As you can see below, I am getting quite close to it now and am hoping that by the end of June, I’ll have hit it!

Monthly Reading Total: 7 ||  Total Books Read In 2019: 26/30

Reading Goals for Last Month:

  1. Finale by Stephanie Garber
  2. Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
  3. Romanov by Nadine Brandes
  4. The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson
  5. Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

What I Actually Read:

  1. Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan ★★★★
  2. The Suffragettes by Various ★★★.5
  3. Finale by Stephanie Garber ★★★★★
  4. Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia ★★★★★
  5. The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven ★★★★
  6. The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson ★★★★.5
  7. Saga Vol. 3 by Brian K. Vaughan ★★★★

I said last month that I wanted to read a similar amount to what I read in April and I went for one up on that! I think this is the most I’ve read in one month so far this year and I am so happy about it! It feels really good to look at my reading this month. I feel like I’ve also read some really decent books this month.

June TBR:

  1. The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg
  2. The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli
  3. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
  4. S.T.A.G.S. by M. A. Bennett
  5. The Girl of Ink and Stars by Kiran Millwood-Hargrave
  6. It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne

For my June TBR, I have chosen books by authors who are going to YALC at the end of July (apart from The Kingdom). I am trying to focus on reading books by these authors in preparation. It is a little ambitious seeing as I start my new qualification however I’m hoping to start the month off strong!

What was your favourite read in May? What books are on your TBR for June?

  1. Nice to see so many high ratings in one month! I hope June is as good a reading month for you. I really loved The Last Namsara. I hope you do too!
