I’ve been a Harry Potter fan since I was 6 years old but until 2019, I had never met any of the cast members. Many years were spent wishing that I could have gone to the film premieres of the last few films. I even remember the premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 2, watching it on a live stream because I wasn’t allowed to go as my High School Prom was the next day. After all these years of wishing to meet the cast, I finally had the chance to meet not one, not two and not even three cast members, but eleven! The experiences I’ve had each time have been so wonderful and I just had to write it up so I never forget it.
I think the best way to do this post is to lay it out in order of the events where I met the actors. You’ll find that Sammy of Sammy’s Shelf features a lot in this post as we both decided we wanted to meet Potter actors and get our books signed by them so this is something we are doing together. It’s super lovely to have a friend to share these special moments with who loves Harry Potter as much as me.
London Film and Comic Con
I’ve been attending YALC, which is part of LFCC, every year since 2017. I’ve had a lot of great experiences including some celebrity encounters. This year was no different except there were some major Potter actors there. The Potter actors that attended were Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Devon Murray (Seamus Finnegan), (Oliver Wood), Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown), (Pansy Parkinson in the first few films). I didn’t meet all of the actors as I was more focussed on getting my copy of Philsopher’s Stone signed by the major characters at this stage, but I do wish I had got pictures with the others.
I met Tom and Devon which was a lovely experience. I think Tom had perhaps had a few too many beers the night before but he was still great to talk too. Devon was super friendly and talked to me for ages, making me feel so comfortable after I mentioned how nervous I was to meet him.
I also met Jason via Sammy as she chose to get her book signed by him. He was also lovely, saying hi to both myself and Ben as we accompanied Sammy.
Worcester Comic Con
This is a pretty local comic con to me so when I saw some of the Potter cast were coming to it, I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing. The actors that attended the event were Jamie Waylett (Crabbe), Josh Herdman (Goyle), Louis Cordice (Blaise Zabini), and James Payton (Frank Longbottom). I was able to get my copy of Chamber of Secrets signed by the Slytherins and James signed my copy of Order of the Phoenix.
All of the actors were really friendly and happy to speak for a little while with me. As it was a small con, it felt a little more personal which was quite nice. There was also a panel where I was able to ask a question and it was nice because they all recognised me from earlier in the day!
Warner Bros Wizarding World Gold Christmas Party
As part of the Wizarding World Gold membership, a special Christmas party was hosted at the beginning of December. I’m not sure if it will take place every year or if it was part of the Wizarding World Gold launch celebrations but luckily, I managed to get two tickets for myself and my boyfriend and Sammy also managed to get a ticket. As per the information that the Wizarding World had shared, we knew that there would be a special guest but we weren’t 100% sure who it would be. I was 75% certain it would be Warwick Davis though as he’s had a lot of involvement with the Warner Bros studio tour and it was! Myself and Sammy very luckily got to speak with him briefly before getting a picture. He didn’t sign our books but that’s ok because least we got to meet him!
Telford Takeover (Wales Comic Con)
This was our last convention of the year meaning our last opportunity of 2019 to meet more of the Potter cast. I was super surprised to see that Matt Lewis would be attending as obviously he plays a pretty big character throughout the Potter series but I was obviously very happy about it. Telford isn’t too far from me so we decided that we had to go and meet him as the opportunity was just too good to miss.
As well as Matt, we also were able to meet David Bradley (Filch) and Stanislav Yanevski (Viktor Krum). I obviously had to meet Stan seeing as my Potter Instagram username is victoriakrum_! Both myself and Sammy had a really good time meeting the actors. They were all super nice and I loved listening to Matt share his experiences of working on Harry Potter.
I do have plans to continue meeting more of the cast now. I’d absolutely love to meet one of the Golden trio. But until that moment comes, I’m more than happy to continue meeting the cast of the films and get my books signed by them.

Aw thank you! That’s so kind! Yeah, I’m still so shocked that all of that happened last year! 14 year old me (and 24 year old me, let’s face it) is shook.

Ah I love this post so much, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous haha! I met Devon Murray at Cardiff Comic Con a good few years ago and he was so lovely then too! He signed a photo for me and because it was quiet at the time took a photo with me too! I didn’t realise how short he was, I’m only 5ft and he wasn’t much taller than me lol! Would love to meet Tom Felton, was going to at LFCC this year, but decided against it bc of money, wish I had now though! The Warner Brothers Christmas party looked amazing!

Haha, honestly I’m so jealous of past me. Oh that’s so cool, yeah I feel like I look really big next to him? Like my head looks massive haha! Yeah, I was only going to get my book signed by Tom but then it was the last day of YALC and I was just like ‘oh go for it’ cause I thought I’d probably never get a chance again! Oh, it was so good – I need to do a post about it but bit late now!

I still can’t believe it happened! It’s particularly special as after I’d met him and had my picture with him, I found out that he’d not done a UK convention in 10 years, I think it was!
